Edible plastic packaging film food packaging industry

In recent years, sustainable packaging and green packaging have become hot topics in my country food packaging industry. Driven by multiple factors such as retailer requirements, public awareness, economic pressure (especially petroleum products) and government policies, sustainability has penetrated into all aspects of food packaging.

Related scientific research institutions and packaging companies have begun to study the preparation and performance of new edible plastic packaging films. While ordinary packaging provides convenience for people lives, it also produces packaging waste. This not only increases the burden on the environment, but also increases the possibility of resource waste.

With the rapid development of food technology and packaging industry, many new packaging materials and packaging forms continue to emerge. Among them, experts believe that edible and environmentally friendly packaging materials will promote the sustainable development of the food packaging industry. Recycled packaging materials are mainly plastic packaging, which can be made into recycled packaging containers after physical treatment and recycled packaging products after chemical treatment. Reusable packaging materials are mainly used to package glass bottles for beer, beverages, etc., which can be used repeatedly. However, these two methods have shortcomings. They only reduce the pollution to the environment, but still have to face the problem of polluting the environment. As the concept of low-carbon and environmental protection becomes the main theme of society, it is being practiced in many fields, including the packaging materials field.

In fact, in my country, many edible packaging has long been used in real life. For example, wax, oil, gelatin, etc. coated on the surface of food and fruit can effectively slow down water loss and extend the shelf life; the glutinous rice paper wrapped around the outer layer of candy and cakes is made of starch such as sweet potato, corn or wheat flour, which melts in the mouth and is used to prevent adhesion to the outer packaging; corn baked packaging of ice cream cones and sausage casings are typical edible packaging.
